The workshop IlluminActions, organised by the Lighting Design Elisava given by ELISAVA in collaboration with the tutoring of Anoche and Lupercales, was in charge of the lighting work for the 8th edition of the Festival Eme3, which took place from 27 June to 3 July at the emblematic premises of the textile factory Fabra i Coats in Sant Andreu (Barcelona).
The workshop had the active collaboration and participation of architecture, design and lighting professionals, and students from all over the world. For this reason, the meeting had a strong international and multidisciplinary personality that enriched the experience.
The result was the fruit of a process that lasted 4 days of powerful study, work and development of lighting concepts from the compilation, gathering and reinterpretation of the place’s history, of the factory and of every one of the people who worked and created in it, all of this with the collaboration of the Associació d’Amics de Fabra i Coats and of the artists taking part in the event.
The mise en scène of the different lighting solutions outstood for the various treatments that were given to each one of the areas that make up the architectural complex of the factory and the Festival, clearly capturing these conceptual and formal differences in a unique lighting design.
Lupercales and Anoche posed the goal of recovering public spaces for the citizens through lighting. The members of the collective, which actively collaborates in the Lighting Design Elisava creating and developing IlluminActions with the students, remarked the success of the workshop, both because of its development and because of the result for Fabra i Coats.
